After much thought and deliberation, I have decided that I will enter the Republican Primary as a candidate for the 5th District Congressional seat on June 8th. Many of my friends, community leaders and fellow citizens have urged me to run as an independent; I, like them have become alarmed at how our political leadership has abandoned them and their conservative principles, and are no longer responsive to their needs.
Today, I submitted nearly 2000 signatures and the necessary paperwork to have my name appear on the ballot in the Republican Primary. All my life I have been a conservative Republican who has supported conservative causes and candidates. Today, I am running in order to bring a new voice to the party. I believe in the founder’s vision of liberty, fiscal conservatism, limited government, and self-determination. I am not a career politician, nor do I aspire to be. Rather, I am convinced that living by the mottos “We the people” and “In God we trust” will be the cure for what ills America today, and will restore us upon the path of greatness that our Founding Fathers envisioned when they established this great Republic. I have faith in you, my fellow citizens of the fifth district, that you will turn away from career politicians and pre-ordained selections made by the party establishment, and will bestow on me the great honor to represent you in Washington. Together, we can take back our country from those who seek personal gain and power over the needs of their fellow countrymen.
