The most important guarantee of the constitution is the right to life. There was a specific reason our founders listed life first even among the three central guarantees. The founders believed, as I do, that the primary purpose of government is to protect innocent life.
I am often asked about my position on Roe V. Wade; to put it simply, it is bad law. The Supreme Court said that the [right of privacy] “is broad enough to encompass a woman’s decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy.” I have read the constitution; nowhere in it can I find a right to privacy. This law is a perfect example of judges (or justices in this case) legislating from the bench. They knew in what direction they wanted to rule, and found (or invented) a reason to rule in that direction. There are enough reasons why this is a “bad law” to write a book, however suffice to say it needs to be struck down.
