The second amendment to the Constitution is about the right of self-defense. Politicians from our part of Virginia like to talk about second amendment rights as if they were solely about hunting and sport shooting. However, these rights are only a small part of the second amendment. The often forgotten, or purposely ignored, primary reason for the second amendment is self-defense. It is the self-defense aspect that illustrates the true need of firearms in the hands of the average American. Congress should never infringe upon this right.
